Trainee interview questions and top scoring answers including the ones we are covering together today here’s the next question for you what are the different styles of management and which one do you think you would be so this is a difficult management training interview question to answer make sure you learn the different management styles before you attend your

Management trainee interview here’s my example answer to help you what are the different styles of management and which one do you think you would be here we go there are seven different styles of management these are autocratic pace setting democratic transformational coaching affiliative and lace affair autocratic is the most commanding whilst lace affair is

The most laid back i think i would be a mixture of autocratic coaching and transformational there would be times where i would need to be autocratic especially if we were experiencing difficult challenges and we had a very tight deadline to meet i would use a coaching style of management when conducting performance reviews or when i needed to motivate my team finally

I would always use a transformational style of management because i believe we would need to embrace change continuously if we were going to successfully meet the organizational strategic objectives that’s a really good answer that will help you pass your management interview your trainee management interview it lists the seven different styles of management and

What i love about that answer is you are saying you’re going to be a mixture of those seven you’re choosing three and you are then giving scenarios of where you would use them so it’s a very smart answer the next management training interview question is how would you deal with conflict between two members of your team so conflict management is one of the most

Important skills needed as a trainee manager so show the interviewer that you already have a basic understanding of how to deal with conflict in a team here’s my example answer how would you deal with conflict between two team members here we go sometimes conflict between team members can be healthy because it creates competitiveness personal growth and insight

However if i felt the conflict was in any way detrimental to the performance of the team i would step in and facilitate its resolution so i would first speak to the individuals in private to find out the reason for the conflict and i would encourage the team members to find a compromise quickly now if they were unable to resolve the conflict i would take control

And instruct them on the steps they needed to take to rectify it for the sake of the team that’s a calm and composed manager that’s how i would tackle that type of situation i would encourage them to sort it out themselves first of all as mature and professional employees if they couldn’t resolve it i would then step in the next question is what makes a good leader

So this is a really difficult management training interview question to answer however it does come up often so make sure you prepare an answer to it now a good leader is resilient steadfast motivational and they always have high standards so here’s my example answer to help you what makes a good leader a good leader is someone who is resilient in the face of

Adversity and is not afraid to make tough decisions that might be unpopular with their team a good leader is someone who has a clear vision and a plan and they share these with their team periodically a good leader is honest has integrity and high standards asks for ideas and input from their team and someone who will always take ownership of difficult challenges

And problems so good leaders seek to hire great people who have skills and qualities that continually help the business thrive and they are not afraid for those people to gain higher promotion than themselves finally a good leader will motivate coach and develop their team to be the best versions of themselves possible again that is a cracking answer and you can

See that all of these responses are really going to help you be the standout candidate at your management trainee interview here’s the next one how would you deal with an underperforming team so this is what’s called a hypothetical management training interview question and another one that assesses your ability to think on your feet and find a solution you will

Have to answer lots of hypothetical interview questions during your management trainee interview my advice is to talk about getting to the root of the problem and then putting steps in place to get the team back up to speed quickly you have to take control of this situation you need to be confident in this scenario here’s my example answer to help you how would

You deal with an underperforming team here we go i would identify the issues of underperformance and determine its cause i would speak to underperforming team members to find out the reasons why they felt they were not capable of carrying out their duties competently and on time i would conduct a training needs analysis review to see which team members required

Further training and put in place strict guidelines and deadlines for the team to follow and adhere to i would then closely monitor the team over the forth coming weeks and motivate them to ensure everything was back on track and completed as expected finally i would remind the team of the company values their responsibilities and the importance of maintaining a

Strong work ethic and delivering as expected in their roles so i’m sure you’ll agree that is a very confident answer so if you give that type of response during your management trainee interview the interview is going to think this person certainly has a good understanding of what to do even though they’ve not been in this scenario yet and more importantly they are

Positive and they have the confidence to deal with the situation this is the next management training interview question that is highly likely going to come up during your interview what’s your biggest weakness now this tough management training interview question catches a lot of candidates out don’t give a weakness that is a match for the skills and qualities

Needed to be a competent manager and do not say my biggest weakness is that i am a perfectionist don’t say that lots of candidates do it’s not a good week good weakness to give give a weakness that won’t do you any harm so here’s my example answer to help you what’s your biggest weakness my biggest weakness is the fact i don’t yet have much experience of talking

In front of large groups of people or giving presentations however i understand this is a fundamental part of being a manager and i’ve been reading books on this subject if there is the opportunity as a training manager to give presentations or talks then i would very much like to develop my skills in this area so that’s good because you are aware of your weakness

You understand that you would need to do that as a manager on occasions and you are saying that you have been reading books on the subject so you are taking your weakness in your own hands and trying to improve and you are then saying if there is the opportunity in their organization you would love to give it a try to develop your skills it’s a very good answer to
